Ikeda Megumi has long, black, silky hair in a traditional Japanese style. Though her personality doesn't always reflect it! She takes care of Kuroe Shrine, which is a small but beautiful shrine in the middle of Katsurano-mura. It lies next to 翠嶺湖 (Lake Suirei). The lake is fed by a nearby river in turn fed by 翠嶺の滝 (Suirei Falls), a modest but beautiful waterfall. She also helps the tiny 翠嶺神社 (Suirei Shrine) next to the falls. She lives in a traditional Japanese-style house with her young apprentice Azusa. In her day-to-day life, she does what she can to take care of the shrine. This includes certain mysterious rituals whose origins are ancient and strange. But it also includes simpler things like growing foods and cleaning. She is well-supported by other worshippers in the village.
Megumi is by nature somewhat aloof and seems to be lost in her head a lot of the time. She often finds herself lost in daydreams and philosophical speculation without realizing it. She loves animals, though she has lived close enough to nature not to always trust them. In her daily life, she likes to tinker with her computer and try to research spiritual traditions across the world to understand the history of Kuroe Shrine. She also gets serious about watching anime and going to the local game center. All in all, she loves her life and seeks to make Katsurano a joyous and holy place.
As part of her aloof nature, she is often mistaken for being a bit of a ditz, but this assumption is quickly dispelled when she gets the chance to speak at length. Though she often finds that she has a hard time expressing her self in language. She is by nature curious and inquisitive. Though sometimes reserved, she is not by nature shy or bashful. Though she often forgets that her beautiful looks and prodigious bosom make her a target for male attention, which can lead to her suddenly being reminded of her physical form and blushing deeply.

Koyanagi Azusa has dark blue hair in a bob cut with an ahoge. She is Megumi's "apprentice" at Kuroe Shrine. She is somewhat serious for her age and often appears as the mentor rather than Megumi, reminding her of her duties and helping her keep track of her schedule! But she is, at the end of the day, a young girl with her own childish interests.

Kozue is a slim young girl with purple hair that is braided in a long ponytail in the back. She is a monk in the Shingon tradition who has been entrusted with a beautiful and refined temple in the middle of a mountain pass named Seihyou Temple. Winters are quite severe, but she accepts this all with a heart that does not discriminate. She sees ice and snow as a wonderful metaphor for the impermanence of all phenomena and so sees her own shoveling and salting as a form of samadhi of its own. The only thing she seems tied to worldly things about is her friend and rival Megumi, namely her breasts... Kozue is often drawn back into the world of passions when she sees Megumi and wonders: Just when will my chest get as big as hers? What is that girl eating? Her breast envy will probably keep her bound in samsara for a few more cycles at least...

Sayuri has pink hair in two long twintails. She has bushy eyebrows. She is a steadfast and exacting girl. Her mind tends towards categorization and mathematical precision. She has become an expert at computers and therefore operates as Katsurano's tech support, often against her will! The one friend she will always help is Megumi. The two often appear as opposites: Megumi is artistic, Sayuri is scientific. Megumi inclines towards instinct, Sayuri towards analysis. Megumi has a high sensitivity to what is hidden, Sayuri towards what is there. And yet, Sayuri is part of the same spiritual tradition as Megumi. The two see themselves as working towards something higher that both grasp only one side of. Sayuri tends to help Megumi learn about computing. She also loves attending the local game center ヒュペリオン (Hyperion) with Megumi. She is great at rhythm games.

Chizuru is Sayuri's older sister. She has short pink hair with hair clips. She just graduated high school but seems very unwilling to find a job... She is an associate librarian along with Sayuri, or at least says she is. But she spends most of the day sleeping and playing games. This leads to a lot of bickey between her and Sayuri, who picks up most of the slack. The only thing she is really good at are rhythm games, to the endless frustration of Sayuri who practices more than her older sister but just cannot compete with her high scores!

Ayaka is a hermit of sorts. She is tall and beautiful, with a full-figured body (her breasts are enormous, even slightly outperforming Megumi in this regard) and long, red hair with strands in the front. She lives in a hut near Kanamata Shrine. She wears little more than a fundoshi and small support over her breasts. Even in cold weather, she has tempered her body to be very resistant to the elements. She is attended upon by many who wish to train with her and learn the ancient knowledge that she has found through years of isolation in the wilderness. It is said that her large breasts are a sign of being blessed by the gods with magical and mysterious abilities. She sees great potential in Megumi, who is one of her disciples. She even sees it in those disciples who have yet to enter puberty, such as Azusa.

Mitsuki has braids in the front of her hair. Her hair is long and brown. She has been chosen to be a full-time disciple of Ayaka for her exceptional early abilities... which should go without saying considering the miracle of nature which has endowed this young girl of the tender age of 11 with J cup breasts! As part of her special training, she spends every waking moment with Ayaka and aims to replicate her mannerisms and ways. Most of these are special forms of living that cannot be taught by mere words but consist in the most general comportments of existence.

She manages the local onsen in the tiny town of Shiobori. It is exacting but rewarding work. It is said that all who dip in her onsen will have large breasts... She has an older brother named 彰人 (Akihito).

Shiori has blonde hair in two girlish ponytails on the sides. She is a mysterious girl whose background isn't known very well and who only appears sometimes. She seems to have an attachment to rivers and bodies of water, as she often appears fishing and walking the shoreline. She has a strong knowledge of the western Hermetic traditions and endeavors to show the parallels between them and the local spiritual traditions of Oowada-shi and its surrounding environs.
